2.77 Requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree
A.Β Purpose
To establish guidelines for the obtainment of a Bachelor of Science degree (BS).
B.Β Policy
The Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate degree in a technical or scientific field of study and is designed to be completed in four years. Upon completion, a student will have the necessary skills to be successful in their field of study.
C.Β Procedures
Each degree is earned after completing the requirements stated in the studentβs assigned catalog for their declared degree.
Through the curriculum committee, procedures have been developed to allow for curriculum revisions that may apply to the Bachelor of Science degree.
Degree requirements are subject to approval by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development.
In order for a Bachelor of Science degree to be awarded, a minimum of 120 hours is required, and thirty (30) hours of coursework must be completed in residence.
To be eligible for graduation, students must complete all degree requirements and be in good academic standing, which requires an institutional grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 at the time of completion. Specific programs may require a higher GPA to graduate.
D.Β Definitions
In Residence – The requirement that the student has completed a minimum number of credit hours through classes offered by any modality at the college.

This policy is maintained under the authority of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
