3.86 Employment Verifications and Reference Requests
To establish standards related to employment verifications and reference requests.
The college may provide employment verifications for current and former employees if requested by a third party. Employees may also offer references for other employees when requested.
All employment verifications requests must be directed to the Office of Human Resources.
To protect confidentiality, unless there is a written authorization from the individual to release additional information, only dates of employment and job title will be released.
The college is not required to provide such information, but it is done as a professional courtesy.
An employee may give a reference for a current or former employee, but only with written permission from the employee being referred.
This policy and these procedures are maintained under the authority of the chief human resources officer.
