6.19 Tuition Refunds

A.   Purpose

To establish a process for student refunds for assessed tuition and fees for credit-bearing instructional programs.

B.   Policy

The college will maintain a process to refund eligible assessed tuition and fees for credit-bearing instructional programs.

C.   Procedures

Refund for Students Dropping any 16-week Class or Classes

  • A student who drops a class or classes prior to the start of classes will receive 100% refund of all assessed tuition, course-specific and required fees for the class or classes from which the student has dropped.
  • A student who drops during the first seven (7) calendar days of the semester will receive a 100% refund of all assessed tuition, course-specific and required fees for the class or classes from which the student has dropped.
  •  A student dropping a class or classes between the 8th and 14th calendar days of the semester will receive a 50% refund of all assessed tuition and course-specific fees for the class or classes from which the student has dropped. Required fees will not be refunded.
  • A student dropping a class or classes after the 14th calendar day of the semester will not receive a refund.

Other Provisions

  • Class section cancellations initiated by the college will result in a 100% refund of all assessed tuition, course-specific fees and required fees for the class or classes which were cancelled.
  • For courses operating on a different schedule than a 16-week semester, deadlines and refunds will be prorated. All procedures for students dropping a class or classes apply.
  • Students are not entitled to a refund when they fail to attend class/es, fail to complete the withdrawal process, or are administratively withdrawn from a course.
  • In the case of national emergency, any student called to active duty during a semester shall be entitled to a withdrawal from all courses for a 100% refund of all assessed tuition, course-specific and required fees. The student must present a copy of their orders to be eligible.

Appeals Process

Students shall have the opportunity to seek an appeal, in writing, contesting or petitioning any outstanding balance due to the college.
